  • The rubber has become hard and glossy.

Fusing Unit (Fuser)

Its yield is 100,000-300,000 pages depending on class. Signs of wear:

  • Toner rubs off the finished printout.
  • Lengthwise creases or jams strictly at the output.
  • The device takes a long time to "warm up" before each job.
  • A smell and unusual noise appear during printing.

Why Replace on Schedule

A torn fuser thermal film wraps around the roller and drags neighboring components with it: replacing one part turns into overhauling half the device. Scheduled replacement based on the counter is always cheaper.

How to Track It

Print the counter page and compare the mileage with the components' rated yield. On mid-range and higher-end devices, this is visible right in the web interface.
