The scheme is simple: the job is sent to the device, but it only prints once an employee approaches and confirms it. Nothing is left on the output tray or falls into the wrong hands.

What This Gives You

  • "Unclaimed" printouts disappear — typically 15-25% of total volume.
  • Confidential documents don't sit out in the open.
  • Tracking becomes possible: you can see who prints how much.

Option 1. PIN Code

Requires no hardware: the user sets a code in the print properties and enters it on the device's panel. The downside — manually entering the code quickly becomes tedious.

Option 2. Access Cards

If the office already has access cards, a reader is installed on the MFP and employees simply tap their badge. The most convenient option, but it requires a compatible reader and a license for the device.

Where to Start

Enable pull printing on one device and look at a month's statistics — how many jobs were never picked up. This figure is usually enough to justify rolling it out office-wide.
